Remote Radiology Reporting

Remote radiology reporting is the core AfyaRadTM service. Using our secure, well-tested teleradiology platform, we connect your hospital to Kenya Medical Board-licensed radiologists who issue reports from anywhere, at any time, in a timely and cost-effective manner. Our team provides 24-hour coverage every day of the year — including weekends and public holidays — backed by round-the-clock IT support.

The platform is compatible with all radiology equipment — X-ray (digital and conventional), Ultrasound, CT, MRI and Mammography — and integrates with your existing Hospital Information System to eliminate manual data entry and speed up delivery. Emergency cases (trauma, stroke, acute abdomen) are prioritised and reported within one hour; routine studies within 12 to 24 hours. Referring clinicians access reports through the secure web portal from any internet-enabled device.

How remote reporting works

1

Scan & upload

Your technician scans on existing equipment and uploads DICOM images through the platform. No PACS required — we provide the cloud infrastructure at no upfront cost.

2

Secure transmission

Images are encrypted and sent to our cloud-based RIS, which manages patient data, radiologist assignment and report tracking with a full audit trail.

3

Expert reporting

The next available licensed radiologist — with subspecialty training where needed — reports your study. Emergencies are prioritised and returned in under one hour.

4

Report delivery

Reports arrive through your HIS or the AfyaRadTM web portal — images and report side-by-side, ready to download or share securely.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a PACS system to use remote reporting?
No. PACS is optional. If you already have one, AfyaRadTM integrates with it. If you don't, our platform includes a cloud-based Radiology Information System (RIS) that stores your images securely and manages the entire workflow — at no upfront cost.
How fast will I receive a report?
Emergency cases such as trauma, stroke protocols and acute abdomen are reported within one hour, 24/7. Routine and outpatient studies are typically reported within 12 to 24 hours.
What does it cost to get started?
There's zero installation cost and no monthly fee. We handle setup, connectivity and staff training at no extra charge, and you pay only a transparent per-report rate for the studies you send.
Which equipment is compatible?
Any equipment that produces DICOM images — the international standard for medical imaging. That covers X-ray (digital and conventional), Ultrasound, CT, MRI and Mammography from any manufacturer.
