Technology alone doesn't interpret scans — people do. The AfyaRadTM platform is only as good as the radiologists behind it, which is why every single report is produced by a qualified specialist, not an algorithm and not a generalist. When you send us a study, you know exactly who's reading it: a licensed radiologist with the training your case requires.
This is the benefit that underpins all the others. Fast turnaround only matters if the report is accurate. 24/7 availability only matters if the radiologist on call is qualified. Here's how AfyaRadTM guarantees the expertise behind every report.
Every radiologist is licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board. This isn't optional. We don't use offshore contractors or general practitioners who dabble in imaging — our radiologists are qualified specialists in good standing with Kenya's regulatory authority. You're getting the same level of expertise you'd expect from a radiologist at a major Nairobi teaching hospital.
Many of our radiologists hold subspecialty training or fellowships. That matters when a complex case comes through: a brain MRI for a stroke protocol is reviewed by someone with specific neuroradiology training, not a generalist who occasionally reads head CTs.
A qualified radiologist is available at 3 a.m. on a Sunday, on public holidays, and through the Christmas week when most hospitals struggle to find cover. We manage schedules across time zones so someone qualified is always on standby, and emergency cases — trauma, stroke, acute abdomen — are prioritised and reported within one hour.
Complex or ambiguous cases are peer-reviewed by senior radiologists before the report goes out. Our radiologists take part in continuing medical education and stay current with imaging protocols and guidelines. We track turnaround times, report quality and referring-physician satisfaction — so quality is measured, not assumed.
